The Ringer Park Partnership Group Mission Statement
As users and neighbors of this valuable 12.38 acre open space, and organized in the spirit of
community involvement and responsibility, the Ringer Park Partnership Group strives to improve, maintain and preserve our Urban Green Space at Ringer Park Playground in Allston, by undertaking the following goals:
- Increase and promote positive usage
- Encourange and Invite diverse activities
- Promote a safe and cooperative environment
- Foster neighborhood stewardship by creating enjoyable experiences
- Preserve Historic features
We recognize these goals as part of a multi-phased process that will surely effect the overall long term benefit of solidifying Ringer Park Playground's value as a unique open space resource.
Short Term Goals:
To support the Boston Parks & Recreation Department by:
- Organizing Annual Large Scale Spring and Fall Park Clean-Ups
- Recruitement of Volunteers for the Park Clean-Ups
- Engaging the Neighborhood and the Allston-Brighton Community in developing a
- sense of ownership and respect for Ringer Park Playground
- Encourage community involvement in the future of Ringer Park Playground
- Fundraising and Grant Applications for needed improvements and amenities at Ringer Park
- Implement more frequent Trash Removal Schedule
Mid-Term Goals:
Encourage and support community involvement in the Boston Parks & Recreation
Department's Master Plan process for Ringer Park Playground to:
- Implement Artistic Park Signage and Park Lighting plans
- Improve Benches, add Picnic Areas, Bike Racks, Information Kiosks and Drinking Fountains
- Enhance the Urban Wilds Wooded Trail Area and Walkways
- Create more inviting and visible Park entrances
- Create formal destination points through ADA compliant connecting sidewalks
- Install Permanent Solar Trash Barrells
- Formalize a scheduled Parks Department Maintenance Plan
- Mile Markers for Exercisers
Volunteer Opportunities:
Working in Partnerhsip with the Neighborhood, the Allston-Brighton Community, the City of Boston and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department:
- Encourage Community Involvement by creating a more inviting user friendly and safe Park and Playground
- Encourage Volunteer Community Involvement regarding the future of Ringer Park Playground
- Continue Organizing Annual Seasonal Large Scale Clean-Ups of Ringer Park
- Daily volunteer clean-ups of the Tot Lot Playground
- Organize increased enrollment in the "Not In My Neighborhood" Crime Watch Campaign
- Volunteer Implementation of regular Green Space Advocacy, Educational and Youth Oriented Programs
- Continue to Host, Supervise and Assist the Boston Parks & Recreation Department's
- ParkArts Program for Children, each July and August
- Foster Neighborhood Stewardship by creating enjoyable experiences for residents of all ages and cultures
- Implement Youth Sports Programs
- Initiate Arts in the Park Programs involving Community Artists and Musicians
- Preservation of Historic Park features
- Fundraising for Community Events and Historic and Memorial Markers
